The District is pleased to announce that Prospect School has been nominated by the Illinois State Board of Education to apply for the esteemed U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools Award.

This is the first nomination for Prospect and the 9th for District 181 schools. There are almost 4,000 public and private schools in Illinois; only a very small percentage of our state's population receive this honor. This is also the 3rd consecutive year that a District 181 school has received this prestigious award.

"Our entire Prospect community — our staff, students, and families are so well-deserving of this award," said Prospect Principal Kristin Cummings. "We are very excited that this nomination allows us the opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of all those who make Prospect a special place for our children to learn, grow, and thrive."

The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' academic achievement. They have demonstrated consistent excellence and made progress in closing gaps in student achievement. Prospect has been nominated as a top performer in the high performing elementary school category.

Prospect will submit its formal application on April 9. The application addresses nearly all aspects of the school, ranging from its mission statement and curriculum practices to after school activities and parent involvement. The U.S. Department of Education will share Blue Ribbon Schools Award selections in Fall 2021. Congratulations on your nomination, Prospect School!
