D181 Residents Invited to Apply for Open Board of Education Seat

Community Consolidated School District 181 is seeking a new Board of Education member to fill the open seat left by Sarah Jakobsen, who resigned from the Board effective June 7. The District 181 school community is sincerely grateful to Ms. Jakobsen for her many years of service and dedication to our students. Ms. Jakobsen, along with the other Board Members, have been instrumental in forging a powerful partnership with administrators, staff members and community to produce outstanding outcomes for our students and secure the Board's first IASB Governance Award during challenging times. As a Board member for the past three years, she has been insightful, supportive and collaborative. Ms. Jakobsen will be greatly missed.

Applications from District residents to fill the open board seat will be accepted through 4 p.m. July 6, 2022. Interviews will be held in mid-July with a final candidate vote taking place at a Special Board Meeting Aug. 1 at 6 p.m.

Applications can be found here or on the District website at www.d181.org/board-of-education/elections. Paper copies can be picked up at the District office at 115 W. 55th St. in Clarendon Hills.

Board members are expected to attend regularly scheduled board meetings and special meetings, serve as a liaison to the community and representative at community events, and participate in committee duties. The person appointed by the Board to fill the open seat will serve until Ms. Jakobsen's term expires, which is April 2023.
