CHMS Student Wins Literature Contest

Seventh grade CHMS student Sophia DiPasquale was the Level 2 (Middle School) winner in the Illinois state competition Letters About Literature. Sophia wrote a letter to the authors of The Reasons I Jump connecting with her own family experiences in a powerful way.

Seventh grade CHMS student Sophia DiPasquale was the Level 2 (Middle School) winner in the Illinois state competition Letters About Literature. Sophia wrote a letter to the authors of The Reasons I Jump connecting with her own family experiences in a powerful way. She was celebrated at a state ceremony on June 3 with the other two state winners where she earned a plaque, a cash prize, and a check for the CHMS library. She is currently enrolled in Jen McCredy's English Language Arts course this year. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment, Sophia!

The colorful butterfly mural painted on the walls of Prospect School does more than remind students to "Be the Change You Want to Be." The mural is a partnership between the school, its 4th and 5th grade GIRLS Club and "Butterfly Effect, Be The Change." Butterfly Effect, Be the Change is a not-for-profit that produces interactive art installations in public spaces and provides donations to social service organizations.
