The District 181 Board of Education on Monday, June 20, 2022, approved the appointment of Mr. Nick Shepkowski as the new Director of Communications, effective July 1.

Shepkowski has long experience in content creation, both in school communications and in radio and TV. Previously, he served as Communications Coordinator for Park Ridge-Niles School District 64, where he oversaw all communications, social media, and the website for the district.

"Throughout the interview process, we were impressed by Mr. Shepkowski's wide skill set in communications and his excellent interpersonal skills," said Superintendent Dr. Hector Garcia, "He has deep experience in TV, video and radio that will enhance our communications efforts and serve our community well," he said.

"I'm honored and excited to be joining one of the most impressive school districts in Illinois," said Shepkowski. "There are tremendous things happening across District 181 daily and I look forward to sharing the stories of our achievements with the community."

In addition to serving in District 64, Shepkowski has been a Managing Editor editor at Gannett Media/USA Today and also an Executive Producer and Host at CBS Radio/Entercom Chicago working in a variety of roles including reporter, producer, host, and analyst. Shepkowski has also been a contributor at NBC Sports Network and has a communications degree from North Central College.

Shepkowski succeeds Jamie Lavigueur who resigned in April.
