And speaking of excellence, Dr. Garcia's leadership has fostered an environment where students thrive. Our students consistently outperform state averages on assessments like the Illinois Assessment of Readiness and the Illinois Science Assessment. This success is a testament to Dr. Garcia's vision and the dedication of our entire staff.

Here's further evidence of our students' outstanding academic performance. Fall 2024 MAP testing revealed consistent reading achievement at the 83rd percentile and increased math achievement to the 94th percentile. These results, along with data from the 2024 Illinois Assessment of Readiness and Illinois Science Assessment, where students significantly outperformed state averages in English Language Arts, Math, and Science, showcase the district's commitment to academic growth.

Prior to joining D181, Dr. Garcia served as Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer of Plano District 88, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for Glenbard School District 87, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Plainfield School District 202. His extensive experience also includes roles as a principal, assistant principal, dean of students, and teacher in diverse school districts. He has even taught graduate courses on leadership, organizational behavior, and curriculum at three Chicago area universities.

A recognized leader in education, Dr. Garcia has presented at state and national levels on administrative and collaborative topics, including the implementation of professional learning communities (PLCs). He has served on key state and national committees, including the Illinois State Board of Education's Performance Evaluation Advisory Council (PEAC), which developed new teacher and principal evaluation methods. At the national level, Dr. Garcia was elected Chair of the National Academic Assembly Council for College Board.
