Substitute Requirements

A valid Illinois Teaching Certificate or Substitute Teaching Certificate is the first requirement to becoming a substitute teacher. You must then schedule a fingerprinting appointment with the DuPage County Regional Office of Education via their website (here). The required form may be printed from the DuPage County Regional Office of Education website (here) and is found under the Licensure tab on the left. A physical is also required. The physical form may be printed from our website (see below under Forms). Once these steps and online registration have been completed and all results received, please contact Angela Rangel at 630.861.4963 to schedule an appointment for an interview. At the time of your appointment, you must bring in two of the following forms of ID (Passport, Driver's License, Social Security Card).
Prospective substitute teachers are also required to bring a copy of their college transcripts that must show the degree and date of conferral.

If you are applying to be a substitute nurse, in addition to the above, a copy of your current Illinois Nursing License is required.
