BUSINESS & OPERATIONS

Through the prudent management of District resources, the Business Office seeks to support the educational mission of the District. The Business Office is responsible for the oversight of the District's $77.8 million annual operating budget. Daily operations include: payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, employee benefits, cash management, state and federal grant funding, mandatory financial reporting, property / casualty insurance, student transportation, and food service.

The D181 Business Office received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 22nd year from the Association of School Business Officials International for its reporting in Fiscal Year 2023. This certificate honors school districts for their high-quality Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports, a report which goes beyond the minimums established by the National Council on Governmental Accounting. This award is a testament to our community that D181 is credible and transparent and is viewed by credit-rating agencies as a positive factor in decision making.

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awarded Community Consolidated School District 181 the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence for the 4th year in a row for the budget presentation for the 2024-25 budget year. The MBA award promotes and recognizes best budget presentation practices in school districts and is the highest designation possible from ASBO International.
