Parent Groups Support Schools, Enrich
Curriculum
Student life in District 181 is
enhanced by strong and supportive parent organizations in all nine
district schools. Seven schools have Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO).
Walker and Prospect schools have Parent Teacher Associations (PTA).
Parent volunteers serve in many capacities in district schools, but
share the same goals of enhancing the educational experience for all
students and fostering communication between school and home. Through
fundraising activities, the PTO/A groups have provided new playgrounds
at several schools, embarked on landscaping projects including brick
patios and courtyards, supported cultural arts programs for all grade
levels and have partnered with the district in expanding technology for
students. All PTO/As have supported the District's Social Emotional
Learning for Academic Success program and offer programs for parents on a
variety of topics.
