Advanced Learning

The District’s advanced learning services are part of a continuum designed to meet the needs of students with diverse needs. In 2012, the University of Virginia reviewed the District's gifted education program and recommended changes to the District's programming. (See below the report from Dr. Tonya Moon.) As a result of the evaluation, transition plans were put into place and an Advanced Learning Task Force was formed to provide options for the future of advanced learning in the District. The task force developed an Advanced Learning Plan, which was unanimously approved by the Board of Education on February 25, 2013. The Plan's Executive Summary and related files are available below.
