The Communications Department serves as the liaison between the school district and the community. We are committed to providing accurate and timely information on District 181’s nine schools, 4,000 students, 540 staff members and the Board of Education to our residents.
The department’s duties include the following:
- Oversight of communications projects and products for internal and external audiences. We utilize print and electronic publications, issue frequent press releases, and employ an email and voice mail notification system and the district’s website to share information.
- D181 Board of Education Ambassador of Excellence Program
- Fostering accurate and well-rounded coverage of the district’s meetings and news through Media Relations. Through collaboration with local newspapers and television stations, we facilitate reporters’ access to classrooms, staff and events.
- Supporting relationships with the District 181 the Foundation, the PTO/A Presidents Group, Youth Enrichment Services, and Rotary Club of Hinsdale.
- Serving as a resource for realtors, prospective residents, former students and current residents.
- The district’s publications and website have earned awards for excellence from the National School Public Relations Association and the Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association.
